Getting Started

Access more than 200 popular magazines through VPL's Zinio subscription. Current and previous issues are available as full digital reproductions of the printed magazine. There’s no checkout limit and no due dates. Please note that one title: The Economist, has a limited number of checkouts for the current issue. Older issues of The Economist have no limits.

To begin, enter your library card number and PIN. You'll need to agree to an Informed Consent statement when you first initiate your account. Once you've agreed to the terms, the email address* you have on file with VPL will be used to generate a Recorded Books for Zinio account username.

Your password will be set to your first name in capital letters followed by your library PIN with no spaces in between.

Once you are logged in, you can change your username or password under the account settings.

Please Note: If you choose to change the account information associated with your RBDigital account, you will no longer be able to log in via the VPL website using your library barcode and PIN, but you will still have full access to the collection. You will need to access the RBDigital Gateway directly via the RBDigital app or on a web browser at and your use chosen account credentials.

To find titles, use the search box to find specific magazines, or browse through the entire collection alphabetically, by genre, or by language. Click on the plus sign in the bottom right of the search result to check out the most current issue of a magazine, or click on the magazine cover or title to find out more information and see older issues.

*If you do not have an email address on file with us, please contact us for assistance.

Reading in Your Browser

You can see all of your checked-out issues under My Collection, located in the upper right-hand corner of  VPL Zinio collection. Begin reading in your browser by clicking on the cover, which will open the Zinio Reader in a new tab.

Flip through pages using the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard or by clicking on the back and forth arrows to either side of the page spread. There is also a left-side menu with options to view the table of contents, skip to a specific page, zoom in/out, launch the full-screen viewer, or print pages.

Please note: Titles cannot be downloaded for offline access to desktop or laptop computers at this time, but they may be downloaded to mobile devices using the RBDigital app.

Reading on a Mobile Device read magazines offline on your tablet or phone, install the RBDigital app for iOS, Android, or Kindle Fire HD/HDX. You'll need to log in to VPL's Zinio collection via the VPL website using a web browser (Safari, Firefox, IE, Chrome, etc) to create your account before you'll be able to log in to the app.

Since VPL creates an RBDigital account on your behalf when you access Zinio for the first time, you'll need to log in to the app using the following account credentials rather than your library card:

Username: the email address you have on file with VPL

Password: your first name in upper case letters and library PIN without spaces or punctuation, e.g. FREYA1234

Once logged in to the RBDigital app, look for the "checkout magazines" link to be taken to the full collection. Tap on any issue that you've previously checked out to begin the download process. Once the download is complete, you no longer need to be connected to the internet in order to read that issue.
