RBDigital Magazines (Zinio)

Learn how you can use your VPL library card to access complete issues from over 200 popular magazines.

Getting Started

RBDigital Account

To access RBDigital Magazines for the first time, enter your library card number and PIN. You'll need to agree to an Informed Consent statement when you first initiate your account. Once you've agreed to the terms, the email address you have on file with the library will be used to generate an RBDigital account. If you have not provided the library with your email address, please contact us for assistance.

Your RBDigital account username will be your email address and your password will be set to your first name in capital letters followed by your library PIN with no spaces in between ie ANNE1234.

Once you are logged in, you can change your username or password under the account settings if you wish.

Please Note: If you choose to change the account information associated with your RBDigital account, you will no longer be able to log in via the VPL website using your library card number and PIN, but you will still have full access to the collection. You will need to access RBDigital directly via the RBDigital app or on a web browser at https://www.rbdigital.com/vancouverbc and your use chosen account credentials.

Checking out titles

Find a title and click on the plus sign in the bottom right of the search result to check out the most current issue of a magazine, or click on the magazine cover or title to find out more information and see older issues. All issues are available as full digital reproductions of the printed magazine. There is no checkout limit and no due dates.

Please note that The Economist has a limited number of checkouts for the current week's issue. Older issues of The Economist have no limits.

Reading in Your Browser

You can see all of your checked-out issues under My Collection, located in the upper right-hand corner of  RBDigital Magazine collection. Begin reading in your browser by clicking on the cover.

Flip through pages using the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard or by clicking on the back and forth arrows to either side of the page spread. There is also a left-side menu with options to view the table of contents, skip to a specific page, zoom in/out, launch the full-screen viewer, or print pages.

Please note: Titles cannot be downloaded for offline access to desktop or laptop computers, but they may be downloaded to mobile devices using the RBDigital app.

Reading on a Mobile Device

https://www.tacomalibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/16/2017/06/logo_RBdigital_vertical-150x150.jpgTo read magazines offline on your tablet or phone, install the RBDigital app for iOS, Android, or Kindle Fire HD/HDX. Before using the app, you'll need to log in via the VPL website using a web browser (Safari, Firefox, IE, Chrome, etc) to create your account.

VPL creates an RBDigital account on your behalf when you access Zinio for the first time, and you'll need to log in to the app using the following account credentials rather than your library card:

Username: the email address you have on file with VPL

Password: your first name in upper case letters and library PIN without spaces or punctuation, e.g. FREYA1234

Once logged in to the RBDigital app, go to the menu and select "checkout magazines". Tap on any issue that you've previously checked out to begin the download process. You'll need to open the title and tap the centre of the screen to watch the download progress bar (in blue, above the page thumbnails) to completely download each title. Once the title is downloaded, you can access it offline. Delete unwanted issues to save space on your device.
