VPL to Go
A collection of popular eBooks and audiobooks for Vancouver residents. Vancouver residents can continue using the existing BC Libraries collection.
If you are not a resident of Vancouver but have a library card with another participating BC library, you can use the shared BC Libraries: Library to Go collection, or contact your local library to inquire about supplementary eBook and audiobook collections available to you.

BC Libraries: Library to Go
A shared provincial eBook & audiobook collection which contains thousands of fiction & non-fiction titles for children, young adults & adults. It includes recent popular fiction, romance, mystery, biography, & self-improvement. Anyone with a valid library card at a participating BC Library can access this collection through their local library.
About VPL's downloadable collections:
- Access eBook collections using a library card from your local library
- If a title is not available, you can place a hold
- Titles must first be downloaded to a computer or mobile device, using required free software or app
- Use the collection while you travel with an internet connection & your valid library card
- Titles are automatically returned after the lending period (1-3 weeks); there are no late fees.

Technical & Reference eBooks
Most of the eBooks in the following collections are not downloadable. They can be viewed on your computer or mobile wireless device with an internet connection using your VPL library card and PIN.
A leading provider of web-based digital, technical, and business reference content, containing thousands of digitized "best-in-class" reference books, research reports, documentation, and articles.
Gale Virtual Reference Library
A collection of almost 1000 authoritative reference eBooks on subjects such as health, business, biography, the arts, multicultural studies & more. It includes encyclopedias, dictionaries and other reference sources. Some chapters are downloadable in PDF format.
A small collection of digital full-text eBooks. Includes classic literature, reference, scholarly monographs, literature, and fiction. Titles are downloadable through Adobe Digital Editions. Create an EBSCO account to access titles after logging in to the site.
Ebooks for Kids
An online collection of talking picture books for children to use by themselves or with an adult. Makes reading a multi-sensory experience with text, animation, music and narration.
Offers a wide variety of online readalong children's and teen novels. Special features include narration, sentence highlighting, page turning and book marking. For intermediate, middle school and high school students.
International Children’s Digital Library
A collection of historical & contemporary children’s books in over 50 languages. The site is designed specifically for children & very easy to navigate. Titles are read online only. Also provided is an application for use with iPhone or iPad.
Public Domain Ebooks
In addition to eBooks that the library has purchased or subscribed to, you may be interested in the following free eBook resources that contain public domain or creative commons eBooks. Titles can be downloaded to a variety of devices.
A non-profit digital library with access to digitized collections of books, websites, audio, & moving images. It also provides specialized services for the blind & other persons with disabilities. EBooks can be downloaded in a variety of formats including EPUB, PDF, Kindle.
A collection of more than 32,000 free eBooks in English and other languages. Most of the items in this collection are the full texts of public domain (out of copyright) books. All eBooks can be easily downloaded: choose between ePub, HTML and simple text formats.
